The AMAZING Shannell McMillan and the Path4Teens Program

Path4Teens: On Mission to Graduate

Shannell McMillan has been busy for several years planting seeds, watering them and watching them sprout through efforts like Avalon High School and Sharefest.  Her amazing passion and giftedness with the Path4Teens Program is stretching across the US from Los Angeles to Boston.  She is bridging the miles and the gap for teens who need a hand up and a second chance.  Through her networking with the Los Angeles Police Department, Long Beach Police Department and the Boston Police Department she is bringing the Path4Teens Program to schools and youth leadership and development programs on both coasts.

Shannell just completed her third year of Path4Teens at Avalon Continuation High Schoolin Wilmington, CA as part of Sharefest’s Youth Development Academy (YDA).  Graduation rates after just two year at Avalon High School increased by 300% and API scores by 49%.   In January, Shannell will partner with Sharefest at Cherry Tree Continuation High School in Carson, CA, while continuing her work with Avalon HS in Wilmington, CA.
In addition to the work with Sharefest, Shannell has partnered with the Long Beach Police Department’s Youth Services Division and was part of their summer pilot program to bring a 7 week Mandatory Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) to At-Risk Youth in the Long Beach Community. Due to the success of this program and the transformation of the students the Long Beach Police Department has decided to expand it’s efforts adding an additional 7 week YLA course so that more students are able to participate in 2012.   Recently, the Los Angeles Police Department in South East LA/Watts partnered with the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles (HACLA)to bring transformation to their local community.  The 30 police officers selected from 400 applicants to work closely with the community will be trained in either Path4Kids, Path4Teens or Path4Adults by Shannell so that they may empower and equip the youth of South East Los Angeles to bring lasting and positive change to their communities.

In addition to her work on the west coast, Shannell has been traveling to the East Coast where her connections with the Boston Police Department have opened doors with local Boys and Girls Clubs, and private schools in the greater Boston Area and surrounding communities.  Eighty (80) young ladies from the Nazareth Academy in Wakefield, sponsored by the Boston Police Runners Club, will participate in Path4Teens on Decemeber 14th & 15th, 2011.  Recently administration and teaching staff participated in The Four Elements of Success Workshop during a teacher’s retreat  and are ready to excite, ground, transform and release their students to live their mission and and fulfill their visions for the future.   While in Boston, Shannell caught the running bug and joined the 2012 Boston Run/Laugh/Smile team and shared her passion for the youth of Boston.  Her new team-mates were impressed with the results and transformation Path4Teens brings and committed to using the Boston Marathon to raise $25,000.00 to support the efforts of The Path4Teens New England chapter established in November of 2011.   Charlestown Against Drugs(C.H.A.D.) has also agreed to support Shannell’s Path4Teens work within the local Charlestown Boys and Girls Club in the spring of 2012.

Welcome Michele Towers to the Path Licensed Community!

Last week one of our National Trainers, Brenda Staab in Colorado, trained one of our newest Path Licensed members in the Path program.  Michele is now licensed by Laurie Beth Jones, Inc to take The Path program into organizations she works with and teach them the contents of this life-changing material.  Here is what she had to say about the session:

“I wanted to thank you for helping organize everything for my training session with Brenda Staab this past Friday.  We had a wonderful time!  The Path training was incredible, and I was so impressed with how well everything was structured and laid out.  Although I had already read and worked through the book, “The Path”, I was surprised at how deeper and richer my thoughts became by having Brenda to work through this with.  Her knowledge was broad, and the questions she asked me were very thought-provoking.  I walked away from the day excited about putting all of this into action, and feeling very supported by the Path Community!”

We are delighted that you have taken the steps necessary Michele to begin this walk, journey and mission.  You have spent a day with a great person and trainer, Brenda Staab.  I know you were blessed with her kind and generous presence.  I look forward to hearing more about your personal journey for yourself and for those you will lead along the path.  Welcome to the Path Community Michele!  Please post  your mission on the Path Mission page so others can see your focus, message and mission.  What a gift your life has been.  Thank you for sharing yourself with all of us in this community.

Blessings, Laurie Beth

Light Pouring From You.

Light Pouring From You

Yesterday I measured a light table for my art studio, taking its heighth and width and depth in three dimensions.  I know from my measurements that it is 48 inches wide by 66 inches deep by 36 inches high.   What fascinates me most about this particular table is not its dimensions, but the light that comes from within it.

And that is what fascinates me about you.  Not your job description, per se,  but what is being poured into the world from your soul while you are working.

In Jesus, Career Counselor, we are going into a fourth dimension if you will.

For your career is not only about how high, or wide, or deep your work is, but most importantly, what bubbles up from inside it—from inside you.

In Ezekiel 47 we are given a life changing vision of a man encountering a heavenly being who tells him to measure a steam that is flowing from underneath the altar.  As the two continue their dialogue the stream turns into a river, and the river flows into a sea.  And all along the river are trees bearing fruit for food and leaves for healing.  There are fish of every kind swimming in the river, and fishermen making a living on both sides of it.  And perhaps most beautifully of all “everything will live where the river goes.”   I have prayed that my career would be like that.

Wouldn’t you want that for yours too, or for your childrens?

In order for that to happen, the stream must start under the altar, which is a dedicated place of worship and communion with God.

For every parent in America, the Path4Teens program is one of those experiences that you want your teen to know about.  For over a decade, Laurie Beth has been positioning the Path4Teens program in front of educational organizations, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA’s and Youth Leaders.  Path4Teens will save many years of frustration and lost revenue for both the parent and teen.  Graduating from college and returning home not knowing what to do with your life is not a fun place to be.  Knowing who you are and what you were designed to do in life is what the Path4Teens Program is about.  Join Laurie Beth and Shannell to hear that passion ring out in this radio interview.

Path4Teens

Had an awesome meeting with Kathrine and her daughter Corryn on Tuesday….  They love The Path and the Path4Teens programs.  We talked for hours about what is going on in their lives, our worlds and what Australia will be like once they arrive at the end of the month.  She also shared with me about a tragic suicide in their community and how it has impacted the teens and their family personally.  As we shared it became apparent that we would join forces to work more closely together to bring the Path4Teens to schools and Corryn’s school this year.

Corryn is a very talented, gifted artist and was trained in the Path4Teens a few years back.  She is moving into her Junior year in high school and wants to start a Path4Teen club this year at her school.  She is also very interested in training other teens how to use this material.

There are so many ideas that she has for moving the material into the hands of teens because she feels that teens as a whole have a hard time valuing their worth and want to be like someone else.  She will bring some fresh wind and spirit to this process.

I am delighted to know them both and look forward to the journey that will unfold as we walk this Path together.
