Women Entrepreneur Small Business Boot Camp
The inaugural Women Entrepreneurs Small Business Boot Camp will kick-off Wednesday, January 20, 2010.  According to the U.S. Census 2002 Survey of Business owners, Brownsville women owned more than a quarter of the total businesses in Brownsville.  Moreover, of the more than 1,000 chamber members, 35% of the businesses list a woman as being the main representative for that organization or business.  Because women owned businesses are such a growing economic influence for the region, the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Wells Fargo Bank, Ignite Consultants Plus, UTPA Small Business Development Center, SBA, RGV Society of Human Resource Mangers and Chamber Member attorneys and accountants will offer a nine month program for Women Small Business Owners in Brownsville.

The mission of the program is to collaborate with women small business owners to provide the knowledge, resources and plan of action needed to make their “entrepreneurial dream” a reality.  Wells Fargo Bank has been instrumental in the process of securing funding and on-going support for this program via a grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation.  Maria Nuez Hall of Ignite Consultants Plus will be the lead facilitator of the program.  She will assist the Chamber in fulfilling the vision of the program;
•    To provide an innovative and comprehensive informational program to 15 Women Entrepreneurs.
•    To provide an opportunity for a solid and long-lasting network to be formed and maintained by the 15 Women Entrepreneurs.
•    To provide a venue which allows the 15 Women Entrepreneurs to be empowered, engaged and accountable to the success they personally desire.
•    To provide leadership development training that will foster self-discovery and awareness for each Women Entrepreneur individually as well as the collective group.
•    To provide business coaching to increase the effectiveness and integration of the program learning’s for each participant throughout the program.

The program will offer nine sessions focused on core business competencies that are essential to the success and survival of a small business.  It will include monthly guest speakers and monthly business coaching support.

Nominations and applications are now being accepted by the Chamber for women small business owners who would like to enroll in the inaugural program.  Scholarships are available through the Wells Fargo Foundation grant, but certain attendance and participation requirements apply.  The application deadline is Monday, January 4, 2010.  If you have questions or require more information about the program please contact Angela R. Burton at 542-4341 or email at angela@brownsvillechamber.com.
